Ewa’s first success is the world of baking. She placed fourth and got recognition for the best cupcake in the Dr. Oetker cake/cupcake decoration competition. The prize included an all expenses paid trip to Bielefeld where she got to spend the day baking at the Dr. Oetker headquarters with three guests she got to bring along. This was a huge undertaking which included the making, packaging and delivery of 500 cake pop truffles. They were all individually decorated with a handmade black fondant fleur-de-lis and lustre dusted in gold. For more pictures check out our Instagram.

Live decoration demo at Douglas (a national cosmetics and fragrance store) on the Zeil in Frankfurt. 3 days filled with sugar flower live demos allowed the store customers to see sugar crafting up close and personal as Ewa Feix turned the fragrance bottle's distinctive lid into edible sugar flowers.

Editing with a smile. On the final stage of editing her book. Taking on this project while pregnant, Ewa wrote a 160 page book, with over 25 original project ideas, that combine baking and decorating techniques using the wonderful stencils, silicone baking moulds and colorful sprinkles that Rico Design hand picked and designed. The reader can buy the book and see right away how the equipment is used.

These classes are more compact, lasting four hours and cover a lot of the foundational baking and decorating techniques. These quick paced classes are designed for 18 people and are perfect for those who want their first taste of baking fluffy cupcakes and those who want to dip their toes into the world of gum paste roses and fondant. Running the Ewa Feix Akademie has been a great addition to the business because getting the opportunity to teach others is very rewarding. Ewa gets the chance to bring the cupcake decorating techniques that are used in North America and pass them on to wonderfully enthusiastic and talented German students. Classes are on weekends and weekdays with a maximum of 8 people. They are usually in German (with a huge Canadian accent!) but I have done bi-lingual courses, with simultaneous translation. It’s always a fun day!
